I started my photographic career with a Kodak Box Brownie given to me by my Mother's friend, H J Ponting, official photographer to the Scott Antarctic Expedition.

Upon leaving school I joined the BBC as a general trainee and four weeks later found myself appointed office boy to Radio Times where I befriended the photographers and would go out on assignment with them as a mobile flash stand.

At the same time I started night school for my Institute of Photography qualifications at Regency Polytechnic. I became a trainee at BBC Ealing film studios and progressed through the ranks to Lighting Cameraman. Enroute I filmed for documentaries and current affair programmes around the world before settling down as a drama cameraman, the highlight of which was photographing 'An Ungentlemanly Act', produced by Union Pictures, which went on to win the BAFTA for Best Drama.

I went freelance in 1995 to film Ian McShane`s MADSON and have remained so ever since.
